Harvesting the Future: Moving from Pilot to Scale in Agrivoltaics
Agrivoltaics is the next frontier for the clean energy transition and will be pivotal in reaching ambitious clean energy goals in Germany and California.
While Germany offers advanced solar technology and practical insights from existing projects, California combines vast agricultural land with an unbeatable entrepreneurial spirit. Transatlantic Collaboration and best-practice-sharing can boost the sustainable growth of the Agrivoltaics industry.
Building on the lasting achievements of last year’s conference, we will host the premier platform for Agrivoltaics in California again to foster knowledge exchange, connect all relevant stakeholders, and strengthen collaboration to move Agrivoltaics from niche-innovation to mainstream markets.
Goals of the Conference:
- Accelerate the clean energy transition
- Educate local farmers on the benefits and necessary frameworks to utilize and scale agrivoltaics
- Showcase technologies & use cases to promote the adoption of agrivoltaics
- Identify opportunities and build resilience in the agricultural sector
- Promote transatlantic collaboration between agrivoltaics stakeholders
- Identify actionable items for policy- and decision-makers
Key Questions that will be tackled:
- How can agrivoltaic systems be designed to maximize both solar energy production and agricultural yield?
- What are the environmental benefits and potential barriers to develop solar on agricultural land?
- What are sustainable business models that deliver value to all agrivoltaics stakeholder groups (from farmers to communities and the solar industry) in a manner that is both economically sustainable and environmentally sound?
- Legal framework and incentives to move Agrivoltaics from niche-innovation to mainstream markets?
- What does it take to move Agrivoltaics to scale?
About the Conference
The second California Germany Agrivoltaics Conference was created to strengthen transatlantic collaboration in this important sector, promote idea exchanges, and create an ecosystem from which all players involved can benefit. The goal is to build strong German-American partnerships that will lead this growing market of agrivoltaics.
This conference is a joint initiative of the co-organizers Representative of German Business (GACC West), UC Davis, Sunzaun, and Solar4America, supported by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection.
