Energy – Rebuilt Like The Internet

Join Green Connections 2026, an international online webinar bringing together experts and industry professionals from Europe and North America to explore the future of energy infrastructure and the opportunities and challenges associated with developing more resilient, efficient, and decentralized electricity networks.

This year’s theme, EnergyNet, explores the potential of interconnected local energy
communities and decentralized energy solutions to address these challenges. Through
international perspectives and discussions of real-world projects, Green Connections 2026 will
examine the technologies, investments, policies, and collaborative efforts involved in developing
the next generation of electricity infrastructure.

EnergyNet

EnergyNet is a vision for the future of energy infrastructure, centered on the development of interconnected local energy communities. The concept explores a shift from predominantly centralized electricity systems toward more decentralized networks, where communities can actively participate in producing, storing, sharing, and managing electricity while remaining connected to the wider power grid.
By integrating distributed energy resources, such as solar panels, battery storage, and smart energy management technologies, local energy communities have the potential to improve grid resilience, increase energy efficiency, and support the growing demand for renewable electricity. These systems could also enable more effective use of locally generated energy, reduce pressure on existing infrastructure, and create new opportunities for collaboration between energy producers, consumers, and other stakeholders.

What Will Be Covered?

  • Local energy communities: How communities can generate, manage, and share electricity locally.
  • Decentralized electricity networks: Approaches to developing more flexible and resilient energy infrastructure.
  • Distributed Energy Resources (DER): The integration of solar energy, battery storage, and other local energy technologies.
  • Stakeholder perspectives: The roles of local governments, property owners, investors, and industry stakeholders in developing and implementing local energy solutions.
  • Opportunities and challenges: Technical, economic, and regulatory considerations involved in transitioning toward decentralized energy systems.

Why Attend?

  • Explore Practical Applications: Discover how local energy communities and decentralized energy solutions are being developed and implemented through real-world projects.
  • Gain International Perspectives: Hear from professionals in Europe and North America about different approaches to energy infrastructure, policy, and innovation.
  • Understand the Challenges: Explore the technical, financial, and regulatory considerations that influence the development of decentralized electricity networks.
  • Discover Emerging Opportunities: Gain insight into how distributed energy resources, automation, and innovative business models could shape the future of energy infrastructure.

Whether you work in energy, technology, real estate, policy, or simply have an interest in the
future of electricity infrastructure, Green Connections 2026 offers an opportunity to broaden your understanding of decentralized energy systems and the developments shaping their future.
