Update on AB1106

Over the next several weeks, the FIT Coalition will be re-working our strategy and plans for California policy.

Thanks again for your support of the FIT Coalition, especially all of you who jumped in to action in the last week to contact Senator Kehoe and Assembly member Fuentes.

Unfortunately, Fuentes has decided to turn AB1106 in to a 2-year bill. This means that the bill will remain in the Senate Appropriations Committee for now and the earliest it can move forward is January 2010.

While this is disappointing, it shows that despite some strong opposition and a threat of lawsuits from some utilities, Fuentes is still committed to getting a true feed-in-tariff passed in California. The bill was not scrapped entirely and come January, we can push forward without needing to re-start from the beginning.

The FIT Coalition is looking forward to using this extra time to build an even broader base of support for a true, comprehensive feed-in-tariff and working with Fuentes to design the policy in the best way possible.

Over the next several weeks, the FIT Coalition will be re-working our strategy and plans not only for AB1106 and California policy, but also for our larger mission of getting renewable energy online across America. Of course, we’ll keep you updated as our plans progress.

Thanks again for all your energy and efforts!
