The Clean Coalition is proud to announce that itsHunters Point Projectwas recognized as one of five shortlist candidates for Best Solar Project in 2013 at theSolar Power Generation USA Conference held this February.

TheHunters Point Project, named after the substation that serves both the Bayview and Hunters Point areas, will prove that clean local energy can fulfill at least 25% of total electric energy consumption in the area while maintaining or improving grid reliability.

The project will ultimately bring approximately 50 megawatts of new local solar capacity online in Hunters Point. For comparison, the entire County of San Francisco only had about 25 megawatts of distributed renewable capacity as of October 2013. The project will bring significant economic, environmental, and energy benefits to the area, including more than $200 million in regional economic stimulation.
