Rancho Goleta Lakeside Mobileers Solar Community Meeting – 22 August 2026

At the Solar Community Meeting for RGLM residents, Craig Lewis, Founder & Executive Director of the Clean Coalition, and Akshay Pagare, Director of Engineering at Grid Titans and Surya, presented on the following:

• An overview of the trifecta of economic, environmental, and resilience benefits that Solar Microgrids bring.
• The need for resilience at RGLM and the greater Goleta Load Pocket area.
• A survey of resident interest in electrification, electric vehicles (EVs), and a non-invasive metering study.
• Designs and associated economic outcomes for a potential Community Microgrid as well as individual residential Solar Microgrid opportunities.

Solar Microgrids let RGLM adopt EVs and electrify appliances without the roughly $10,000-per-home cost otherwise expected to upgrade RGLM’s private grid. In addition to this avoided cost, financial incentives exist, with more on the way, to make the economics more attractive for individual homes and the overall RGLM community.
