Peninsula Advanced Energy Community webinar series

Best practices for building Advanced Energy Communities

Peninsula Advanced Energy Community (PAEC) is an initiative funded by the California Energy Commission (CEC) to develop Advanced Energy Communities in southern San Mateo County. The PAEC initiative studied best practices for the rapid deployment of AECs, which combine:

  • Low or zero net energy buildings
  • Abundant solar electricity
  • Energy storage and other distributed energy resources
  • Solar emergency microgrids for power management and islanding of critical loads during outages
  • Charging infrastructure to support the rapid growth in electric vehicles

In this webinar series, the authors of several new groundbreaking PAEC studies presented highlights of their findings. Webinar recordings are available to view free of charge.

Webinars include:

The PAEC reports shine a light on what needs to happen to scale up clean local energy, support grid reliability, and minimize the need for new energy infrastructure costs such as transmission and distribution upgrades in the future.

PAEC is a trailblazing initiative to streamline policies and showcase projects that facilitate local renewables and other advanced energy solutions like energy efficiency, energy storage, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The PAEC initiative will create pathways to cost-effective clean local energy and community resilience throughout San Mateo County, the City of Palo Alto, and beyond. PAEC is a collaboration between the Clean Coalition, the CEC, Pacific Gas & Electric, and an array of municipalities, emergency response jurisdictions, schools and universities, and corporate entities.
